Arcana noun 1. Objects, practices, or knowledge related to the perception or manipulation of arcane forces.
Arcane adjective 1. Of or related to forces that are at least partially beyond mortal understanding, especially the workings of spirits and the divine.
Bold Folk noun 1. The lizard- or dragon-like peoples of the Salten Sea, or someone descended from them. 2. Any conspicuous person from the Salten Sea, especially one physically changed by an arcane source.
Brega noun 1. Nature. 2. Arcane forces derived from natural sources. Read more.
The Circle noun 1. A pre-Loss structure north of Circ and adjacent to Congress Monastery. Large, impenetrable, and possessing a striking resemblance to The Wall.
Common Sign Language noun 1. A non-verbal language comprised of hand gestures, hand placements, facial expressions, and body postures. Includes regional dialects, as well as variations that accommodate for limb differences. Read more.
Draconic noun 1. The most common language used in the Salten Sea (although the term itself is rarely used in the Salten Sea). Read more.
Haint noun 1. A mischievous or dangerous spirit or ghost.
Huddle noun 1. Neighboring homesteads or farms. Most commonly used in The Brothers.
The Loss noun 1. A major catastrophic event that occurred roughly 500 years ago, destroying most records and culture.
Lumeneer noun 1. A member of the Church of Lumen’s clergy, excluding high ranking priests, who occasionally possess arcane abilities related to light and perception. Read more.
Peak noun 1. The political figurehead of Mt. Renna with cultural, arcane, and religious duties. 2. Used before a name to indicate that they are such a figurehead.
Pre-Loss adjective 1. Prehistoric, especially belonging to any civilization that existed more than 500 years ago.
Scribblefolk noun 1. A travelling journeyman and courier, usually operating in or around The Brothers.
Sending Stone noun 1. One of two three large arcane devices that can instantly send audio over long distances. 2. The large crystal that powers such devices. Read more.
Sounding Stone noun 1. A small arcane device capable of receiving messages from Sending Stones. Made of crystal and copper bands. Read more.
The Wall noun 1. The large, impenetrable structure at the edge of the world. Read more.
Wall Climber noun 1. A person who is so foolish that they’d try to do something impossible. (Insulting.) 2. A member of the Wallclimbers, a group of marauders that was recently disbanded. Read more.
Wall Licker noun 1. A person who does silly things. Often used interchangeably with Wallclimber. (Insulting.)
Whistle noun 1. A handheld weapon capable of ranged blasts of arcane energy. There are many versions but usually are thin, hollow, and produce a whistling tone when fired.
Whistler noun 1. A travelling investigator or mercenary wielding a whistle, often employed by Congress Monastery. Read more.
